This quilt pattern is made by Megan Collins Quilt Designs of MeganCollinsQuilts on Etsy. She has beautifully created this sewing pattern, which I follow to make this quilt for you. If you are a sewist yourself, check out her patterns on her website.
**This is a made to order, custom quilt, created with your clothing, crib sheets, and blankets.**
This fun modern twist on the standard memory quilt uses your clothing to create a small throw quilt. Each row in the rainbow is made from a piece of your clothing! This is great for people who have all over designs on their clothing and don't want a traditional style memory quilt. I cannot keep screen prints in clothing saved for this pattern, so if you want all of your decals to stay completely intact, I would suggest a more traditional memory quilt from my shop.
This design roughly takes 25-40 items of clothing. This quilt comes in 2 Sizes, Crib and Throw.
Crib Approximately: 50"x43"
Throw Approximately: 50"x60" (quilt pictured)
As with my other memory quilt, we can work together to find coordinating fabric to be used. We will choose fabric for behind the rainbows, in this photo it is white. We will also be looking for a backing fabric and binding (the thin strip on the outer edge- this quilt uses a taupe color). If this is overwhelming, don't worry! I am happy to help narrow down the choices and work with you to find the best fabric and colors possible. Below are some of my favorite fabric suppliers!
Fabricbubb.com, fatquartershop.com, hawthornesupplyco.com
Best items for the quilts are larger pieces. The quilt pictured is made from receiving blankets. Small clothing will not work in this particular pattern. Larger clothing items would work well.
Items not able to be used: shoes of any kind, very small hats, denim, small pants, socks, hair bows, headbands, suspenders.
Each piece of clothing is hand cut and sewn together. It is finished professionally and quilted on my Gammill long-arm quilting machine. A meandering quilt design will be used, unless otherwise specified. Hobbs 80/20 batting is used on the interior of the quilt, to provide warmth and comfort.
Upon payment, I will message you my address that you can send your clothing to. Please make sure all clothes are laundered. I recommend avoiding pieces with stains, but with baby clothes that isn't always avoidable! :)
Cost covers the backing, binding, and background fabric, along with thread, stabilizer, batting and my time to create your custom quilt. Please be aware that any clothing scraps will be discarded, unless you would like it returned to you. Any unused clothing will be returned with the finished quilt. If there is a large amount of clothing needing to be returned and it alters the weight or size of your box, I will ask for the difference in shipping price.
Please allow 6-8 weeks for completion, as this is a very labor intensive process. I will maintain communication and share pictures throughout the quilting stages.
If you have any questions or concerns about this process, please feel free to message me and we can chat about your unique memory quilt!
